I played 5 hours of a game today. Guess which one.
I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Each pokemon to understand
The power that's inside
(Pokémon, gotta catch 'em all)
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
(Pokémon)
Oh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
(Pokémon gotta catch 'em all)
A heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokémon
(Gotta catch 'em all)
Gotta catch 'em all
(Pokémon)

Was it old school Red/Blue or are you playing Diamond/Pearl. When I get a small break in work I plan to dive into Diamond, yay
One million units sold in five days, according to Nintendo. I feel an urge to jump on this bandwagon and yet I must resist.
Diamond. I played R/B/Y (ALL OF THEM) when they came out, couldn't get into Silver, and totally skipped R/S/E/FR/LG.
But I'm prepared now to face Diamond and be the best I can personally be, rather than the very best. I'm not gonna EV train or any crazy shit like that.
I absolutely dominated R/B/Y, loved them a lot. I have only played a couple of gym's into Ruby/Sapphire generation. This was not due to the games being boring, I just dont have days on end like I did back in middle-school to play these games. I loved the remakes of the old school games and played decently into Leaf Green. We should all get DS's and jump on the wifi bandwagon with Diamond/Pearl FTW
What's EV train mean?
Sounds kinky.
Solger: This is the perfect little hang-out to share friend codes and not have them get lost in the sea of the internets...AWESOME.
McDougall: I don't entirely understand it myself, but here goes:
Every time you defeat a Pokemon it gives you a certain number of EV points towards one of your stats. For every four points you get towards a specific stat, you'll get another actual point in that stat at level 100.
BUT: You can only get a limited number of EV points. So if you are CRAZY you an keep track of every single Pokemon your guys fight andmake sure they only fight the ones that would give EV points towards the stats you want.
Oh, and the EV points you have are hidden (I think), so you'd really need to be dedicated.
It sounds scary.
oh. I thought EV training was when you beat the game only using that cute furry one, EeVee. THAT would be hard.
Sounds like UO. Ultima Online had a cap of 700 skill points, so you had to be careful when building your character. They eventually allowed you to lock skills, or cause skills to deteriorate to make room for others.
But yes, it does sound like Pokemon is really quite on to something. Here's an RPG I'd play: a cross between MechWarrior and Anno 1701. Instead of adding LRMs and AutoCannons to a silly mech, imagine adding grappling hooks and DecidedlyNotAutomaticCannons to a big frigate. I think that'd be fun.
